Primary Healthcare in India
The data that the following visualizations represent were pulled in from here. All visualizations were made in Power BI. After doing a simple append query, we can make some interesting interpretations from all of the data.
As we can see there is a larger infant mortality rate in more densely populated states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. But if we match that up with labor room statistics across various states, the number of labor rooms for UP, MP, Rajasthan is greater than 60% as opposed to Kerala, which has a paltry 7%. Again, it is population and the number of cases playing a huge factor in infant mortality rate determination.
In the final visual, we can see that the Average Rural population per sub-center is a strong determiner with regards to healthcare access. Even if there are many villages under a sub-center, it’s the population per village that is an important indicator in the success of public healthcare.
Given the size, population and diversity of India, the results achieved so far are quite remarkable. Finally, if the public data is collected and used correctly, there can be further improvements in Indian healthcare, making it a leader in healthcare in the future.
